Philip Milam was raised right up the road in Blue Ridge and attended grade school at Blue Ridge Elementary. He attended

West Fannin High School and then for his senior year, in 1976-1977, the new Fannin County High School debuted. Philip graduated in the first graduating class. FCHS is 50 years old this year.

Philip attended UGA with the intention of becoming a teacher and a coach.

He furthered his education by attending North Georgia College for graduate school.

For the next decade, his path diverted to law enforcement both as a POST certified probation officer and then as a prosecutor—he did both of these in Dawson and Hall Counties. He had worked his way through law school in his 30s.

Milam had watched his father, a renowned attorney, and later a judge, serve the north Georgia community.

Judge Bobby Milam was first appointed by Governor Joe Frank Harris.

Now Philip Milam wants to continue that same legacy of leadership that his father so paved.
